Newspaper Textures

Okay, these took me longer than I anticipated....BECAUSE OF MY COMPUTER :( , but aside from that, I took quite a while referencing to american styled papers. I made the layout etc my self, as well as the base textures, to make them look older, and more 'destressed', so we could use them as props throughout streets also...

I took the time take take our images and put them into the paper aswell, so it felt more part of our 'world'. I found it wuite fun doing this actually, especially the titles as it let me put of a 'story approach' to our work, which we havent done for a while.

I basically did 3 stages of the story in the Newspaper, Pre-Release of Harpo, Time of Attack, and Realisation of Alien....though I really wasnt sure how much to give away...

  2. I think these are fantastic Bob. They are perfect in every way. Also Bob, is the toy land logo (Maya) in the group temp folder. I plan to grab it and put it onto the factory tomorrow :)

  3. yeah it's n there, though im slightly confused, because i was marked down for doing the textures for it, but because it was in your scene i thought you were doing the textures?

  4. Hmmm, well I'll texture it if you want because it shouldn't be to hard to do. Unless you want to do it?

  5. im not particularly bothered man, i mean, i pictured if to have a slight rust effect? i have the relevant textures, though when it comes to the neon lighting, i know i wont be as good as other people....unless you wanted me to bring in the textures and give them to you tommorow?

  6. I come with an idea for newspaper cut.
Instead of cam showing the newspaper, we'll make it as if the wind blows it the camera ushes forward slowly to the newspaper ( it is slightly pushed here and there by the wind) when suddenly the wind blows it right to the camera and we cut to the different scene.

this will ephasize the desolate city as well.

  8. Well Bob, why don't you texture what you can and then when that's done, I'll take over and put the neon lights and that onto it?

  9. Yeah, i'd highly recomend sticking to the stuff we are responsible for. In this case, Bob's for sign.
I believe it will be totaly enough to apply procedural textures with speculars and glow, so it shouldn't take more than.. an hour.

Also, If you want me to, I can come tommorow evening at uni, at about 5 straight after Canterbury.

  10. I just fear Earl, you might be overcrowded with work.. so there's no point doing this to you :/
And by saying "you" I meant you everybody :) If you feel like we need to do meeting tomorrow, we can do that.
I forgot its going to be quite hectic later..because of the Po-mo essays :/

  11. I don't think you need to come in afterwards Jolanta, I for one won't be there. I'm pretty sure that for now we all know what we're doing.
And just so we are not getting confused with all our jobs, I think it might be best if you do the logo Bob. It shouldn't be too tricky :)

  12. okay, well i was just tryin to sort out somthing that was unclear, and the fact that it might look lslightly displaced on the factory with my texture style but well have to see when it's done :)

  14. Lol, yeah on topic, these papers look fantastic Bob, as for the sign, I'm heading for a dishevelled, dirty look for th factory so a rusty logo will work perfectly :) I'm sure it'll all fit in together.
